The Story
From Navy weapons labs in Dahlgren, Virginia to founding a boutique AI consultancy — a career built on infrastructure, mission-criticality, and staying ahead of the curve.
David Moore has spent 25 years at the intersection of infrastructure and mission-critical operations — starting as a Unix lab admin supporting Navy weapons systems development at Dahlgren, Virginia, and building progressively deeper expertise across every layer of the modern technology stack.
From those early years administering Solaris, HP-UX, and Linux servers in demanding environments, David moved into enterprise systems administration — rebuilding corporate infrastructure, architecting Active Directory at scale, and serving as ISSM managing accreditation and security baselines for government contractors.
His work supporting DoD clients put him at the forefront of container adoption — deploying applications as microservices on Kubernetes before it was mainstream and modernizing DevOps pipelines using cutting-edge tooling. A pioneer of container technology within the organization, he built and scaled multiple Kubernetes clusters establishing highly resilient environments. He also championed DevOps principles and early container adoption at USPTO before either was standard practice — driving agencies toward real automation before the rest of the industry caught up.
He later brought that same government-grade rigor to the commercial SaaS world — owning cloud infrastructure end-to-end and modernizing CI/CD across dev, staging, and production for large-scale platforms.
In February 2026, David founded Anvil Cloud LLC — bringing together everything he's built over a career spanning Navy labs, DoD agencies, and commercial SaaS into a boutique consultancy that helps government and enterprise clients adopt, integrate, and operationalize AI and cloud infrastructure.
Career
Founded boutique consultancy providing DevOps engineering, AI enablement, and secure cloud infrastructure services to government and enterprise clients.
Owned AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps operations end-to-end. Managed EKS clusters, built CI/CD pipelines, automated infrastructure with Terraform.
Built and maintained infrastructure for DoD clients. Pioneered container adoption with Kubernetes, managed large-scale Splunk deployment, implemented DISA STIG hardening.
Championed DevOps principles and early container adoption before either was standard practice. Drove the agency toward real automation and modern infrastructure.
Managed IT infrastructure across multiple U.S. sites, 300+ servers in classified and unclassified environments. Architected enterprise Active Directory, built 300-node Puppet infrastructure, served as ISSM.
Progressed from help desk support to Unix lab administration over seven years. Administered Solaris, HP-UX, and Linux servers supporting Navy weapons systems development and testing.
